About the Holcim Awards Since the establishment of the HolcimFoundation in 2003, the Holcim Awards (in the meantime LafargeHolcim Awards) have been recognizing forward-looking projects worldwide that combine sustainable construction solutions with architectural excellence.
The aim of the competition is to promote solutions for the design of buildings, landscapes, materials and visions in the construction sector that go beyond conventions and address the challenges of sustainability in its broadest understanding.

In each 3-year cycle, the Awards offer a total of USD 2 million in prize money and support the international perception of projects and concepts from architecture, engineering, urban planning, materials science, construction technology and related fields.
Awards are given to projects in two categories: professional projects and next-generation student projects.
The Awards are open for participation in a first stage in five global regions. Subsequently, in the second stage, the winners of the regions participate in the global awards.
