Present stateThe jury meeting took place on Friday, October 8, 2010 in Lüneburg. Please see Exhibition for more information. The design proposals were exhibited to the public in October 2010 at the Konferenzzentrum Mühleninsel Lüneburg.

In November 2011, 1st prize winner Karres en Brands Landschapsarchitecten, Hilversum, was commissioned by the Stiftung Universität Lüneburg with further planning of the project.

Competition task Aim of the project was the redesign of Leuphana University's outdoor campus facilities in accordance with Daniel Libeskind’s key design principles as set in his strategy plan. The area extends over 15 hectares.

In the course of the Leuphana freshers week in early October 2010, participating landscape architects were invited as visiting lecturers to mentor students to creatively reflect on outdoor spaces on campus the basis of the design proposals through the media of film. As part of the task the students were to address the dramaturgical dimension of space and to narrate the "drama" of the location.
ProcedureThe competition was a restricted, single-stage design competition preceded by an international application procedure following guidelines stipulated in the Richtlinien für Planungswettbewerbe 2008 (RPW 2008) § 3 para. 2. The competition was anonymous; the competition language was German. Foreign participants were allowed to submit all documents and drawings in English.
ParticipantsSix landscape architects and 2 alternates were shortlisted through an international open application procedure.
EligibilityAccredited landscape architects and/or landscape designers from WTO member states were eligible to participate.
Prizes and feesThe competition sponsor earmarked EUR 18,000.- (net) for three awards and two acknowledgements.

Each participant who submitted a complete design proposal received remuneration in the amount of EUR 5,000.-. Each participant invited as a visiting lecturer received a gross fee of EUR 1,000.-.
